About.
Elevated Outdoor Design is the
landscape design project of David Cote.
Based in Squamish, BC, Elevated is a boutique studio focused on thoughtful, modern outdoor spaces that bring together architecture and nature.

I began landscaping in my late teens, working hands-on in the field and eventually building my first landscape company in my early twenties. After several years running construction crews and developing outdoor spaces, I sold the business and moved full-time to the Sea to Sky corridor. There, I shifted my focus to design — completing a program at Ryerson University and stepping into a more creative, client-focused role.
Elevated started as a seasonal pursuit — a balance to my winters spent guiding in the mountains as a certified ACMG ski guide. Over time, it evolved into something more: a design practice grounded in clarity, creativity, and meaningful collaboration.
A Philosophy of Purposeful Design

I believe the best outdoor spaces are honest, thoughtful, and rooted in their surroundings. Good design doesn’t just decorate a space — it elevates how people live in it. My process starts big: ideas, inspiration, ambition. Then I refine — removing the excess, distilling the concept, and considering how a landscape will evolve over seasons and years. I care about materials, function, and flow — but most of all, I care about how a space makes you feel.
Design is a conversation. I listen closely, collaborate openly, and help guide decisions with clarity — so that each project feels not just well-designed, but personally aligned. When a landscape reflects both the property and the people who live there, the result is something built to last.

Thoughtful. Functional. Built for life outside.
That’s what drives every design.
